ORAN (Algeria)- Four main areas of biotechnology related to health and environment, food and society, will dominate the second international congress which will be held from April 26 to 29 in Ain El Turk (Oran) under the theme ''Start-up and Biotechnologies" at the initiative of the Department of Biotechnology at Oran University (Es-Senia), the organizing committee announced. Lasting for four days, this meeting will be run by eminent scientists including Professor Nancy Karanja of Unesco, the doctors Mehtali Majid, manager of a Europe-based multinational drug firm specializing in new technology to produce vaccines, Ahmed Chenna, oncology researcher at San Francisco, Clive James, President of International Service for the Acquisition of Agri-biotech Applications (ISAAA), Mohamed Boudjellal, researcher in large pharmaceutical laboratories and president of the ACA.

Saudi Communications 2010 to highlight local telecoms business and investment opportunitiesApril 7, 2010  The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s mobile phone penetration rate surpassed 177 per cent in 2009, reflecting the solid 7.5 per cent rise in the country’s telecom sector revenues to SAR 52.3 billion last year. The fixed-line and broadband sectors also posted penetration rate increases of 3.9 and 9.5 per cent, respectively. Industry analysts expect the Saudi telecommunications market to record strong figures in 2010 as well, driven by the continued expansion of the sector and high consumer spending power. |

IT spending in 2010 expected increase of 5.3% |

April 12, 2010 HELSINKI (Reuters) - Global IT spending should grow 5.3% this year, to 3390 billion dollars (2.489 billion euros), driven by strong demand for PCs and a falling dollar, said the firm of Gartner. "After strong sales in the fourth quarter, providing solid defense equipment in the first quarter of 2010 combined with a recovery of the global economy are pointing to an increased demand data for 2010," said Richard Gordon, Vice- President, Gartner, in a statement. He said the falling dollar up almost four percentage points of growth and the application itself, in exchange rate adjusted, is expected to grow 1.6% this year, after declining 1.4% in 2009 .
